Description
Traditional pumpkin seed oil is prepared in line with the traditional oil production process. Pumpkin seeds are ground, then roasted while being stirred at a temperature of up to 90 degrees Celsius and finally pressed. The final product is a thick dark green-red oil with a characteristic nutty flavor that goes well with many foods.

Pumpkin seed oil has numerous medicinal properties. It contains many minerals (magnesium, calcium, silicon, selenium, zinc), vitamins (A, B1, B2, C, D, E), proteins and as much as 80% unsaturated fatty acids, which the human body absolutely needs for normal functioning and are important in preventing cardiovascular diseases. It is one of the rare oils that contains omega-3 acids, which relieve inflammation (including in joints) and hinder the formation of cancerous tumors. It is rich in delta-7-sterols, which work against prostate enlargement. It also contains substances (squalene) that help weight loss, slow down aging and preserve youth, which is why it is also called the fountain of youth.

Pumpkin seed oil is the most famous indigenous condiment of Prlekija and Prekmurje, which gives dishes a very specific taste and smell. The possibilities of being creative in the kitchen with pumpkin seed oil are countless. It is most often used and enjoyed cold, added to salads consisting of beans, potatoes, carrots, dandelions, onions, black radishes, tomatoes, lettuce, chicory, lamb's lettuce, cabbage, eggs, sauerkraut, boiled beef and many more. It can be mixed into various spreads with cottage cheese and sour cream, and it goes very well with fresh and dry spices and chopped onions. It can also be used to enhance a wide variety of appetizers, soups, creams, cheeses and desserts.
